Our dream to do
an overland 4x4 trip is something that was born over five years ago when we
were living in Brussels. After four years here in the world’s most liveable
city Melbourne, and after over 18 months of preparation we’re now
ready to begin this adventure of a lifetime. The finish line will be in
France, and our rediscovery and perhaps discovery as we settle in this
country is also part of the challenge. But on the way towards France,
we’ve decided to cross the only continent in which neither of us have
ever set foot… and it’s with our feet firmly inside our 4 wheel
drive that we will cross it: 7 months of adventure and exploration which
will take us from South Africa, up the East African coast and into Tunisia.

Our African adventure is a dream that has slowly but surely become a
reality for 2007. It’s about the desire to achieve something
seemingly impossible. It’s a trip that, just like our lives, is made
of adventures and experiences that enrich our daily life that enliven and
heighten our senses and adjust our judgement on the world, enabling us to
better understand and respect others.

Currently, our adventure
consists of leaving Melbourne at the end of February for 2 months around
Australia before loading our “Troopie” in a shipping container
bound for Cape Town. During Big Mama’s maritime adventure, we are
planning to spend time in Melbourne and New Zealand.
